At the end of May, Nissan Motorsport announced they will enter the 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship including Le Mans with a full-factory effort of two LM P1 cars. The car will be called the Nissan GT-R LM NISMO and will make its testing debut towards the end of the year. In addition to sponsorship of my Le Mans Spotter Guides, I was separately commissioned to create some supporting car illustrations showcasing Nissan’s current and future involvement.
I produced a number of vehicle illustrations to support their media coverage for the announcement and for Le Mans.
This is a great example of how illustrations can give a client a consistent message, free of different photo shoots and lighting challenges. The images were utilized a number of times making them excellent value for Nissan.
Production of the 24Hr of Le Mans Spotter Guide is well under way and am pleased to announce that, in conjunction with DailySportscar.com, Nissan will be sponsoring the Le Mans Guide once again which is apt given their domination in the P2 category this year!
Also been working on some illustrations for Nissan for their recent GTR-LM NISMO announcement.
Feel free to thank Nissan NISMO on Twitter for the Spotter Guide support if you want to help out. Timescales are tight this year, so provisionally the 1st edition of the guide will be released on the 6th June, ahead of Scrutineering on my dedicated site, SpotterGuides.com for those travelling early.
The guide will then be updated after Scruitneering. As before the guide will be available as an A3 and A4 versions which will suit printing, desktop and mobile viewing…all free of charge and without the need of an app.

The first guide for the Rolex24 is already in production with over 100cars to produce, 68 TUDOR and the leading 40 Continental cars. Teams have been contacted and liveries are now coming in. In addition I have created a number of liveries for teams this year. It is great to be continue the IMSA connection with the Spotter Guide series after six years producing the official American Le Mans Spotter Guides.
I will be at the ROAR Test in early January if any teams want to discuss their appearance in the new Spotter Guides.
November 1st sees the launch of the new IMSA.com website, which will provide all the official series coverage for the Tudor United Sports Car Championship and Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge.
With my long association with the IMSA run American Le Mans Series, I was asked to provide illustrations for each style of car in the 2014 United Sports Car Championship to educate visitors of the class structure. Another example of how Spotter Guide Illustrations can be used for multiple projects.
IMSA also used my side illustrations for their Competitor Bulletin on the new number panels and class branding.
This is a great example on how a team or sponsor can use the Spotter Guide artwork to help their VIP’s and guesta at the circuit, in addition to building brand awareness.
Porsche North American agency, Momentum Worldwide, contacted me last month to create a special ‘z-card’ Porsche Spotter Guide layout for their VIP’s at Petit Le Mans. Porsche has a huge presence at the blue riband events such as Petit Le Mans and have their own building constructed on top of the hill, above the pits.
I was recently commissioned to produce a 15th Anniversary graphic showcasing all the American Le Mans Champions by Delta Wing Racing Cars. The graphic was in the style of my ‘Spotter Guide’ series and included Audi, HPD, Lola and Panoz Championship winning cars.
I was approached by legendary team boss, David Price, who I had created liveries for in the 1990’s for various McLaren F1 GTR and the first Panoz GTR-1. I had to draw some of the early chassis up from scratch including the Panoz LMP-1. Luckily Photographer, John Brooks came to the rescue with some great reference shots. DeltaWing Racing Cars Manager Partner Dr. Don Panoz founded the ALMS in 1998 and built it into one of the premier sports car racing series in the world. The series came to an end this past weekend and will merge with GRAND-AM to form the Tudor United SportsCar Championship in 2014.
The Spotter Guide series is a very successful project with fan Spotter Guides which can be downloaded free of charge from my other site, SpotterGuides.com As a number of people visit my site looking at these guides, this posts gives you a quick summary of the latest guides. Head over to SpotterGuides.com to download the actual guides.
Scott Elkins is the highly respected COO of IMSA and has been busy drawing up new regulations for the new United Sports Car Championship, which is a merger of the American Le Mans Series and GRAND-AM.
The problem is, both parties want their premier class to lead the grid in the new series. The relatively crude GRAND-AM Daytona prototypes don’t have the aerodynamics of a Le Mans Prototype car, but have a higher top speed, given a long straight. The cars are really polar opposites. Road America saw both series on the same bill, although they didn’t run at the same time, you could compare their times for a rough estimate.

We had over 37000 downloads just on Facebook with over 205 Shares in 36 hours!

We will be back with more Spotter Guides in 2013. Please contact me if you are interested in branding opportunities ensuring your brand in front of die-hard Motorsport fans. I am interested in producing a DTM and Grand-Am Spotter Guide
