FCP Euro VW Golf TCR Livery and Q&A

I was fortunate to be approached by FCP Euro to update their livery for 2019. The European parts company has a distinctive livery with set colors, so this was an evolution to make the livery more dynamic and also accomodate an increase in sponsor logos.

The livery of the two car team uses the same colors, but more dynamic with angled graphics on the side and up the c-pillar to accomodate additonal sponsors Liqui Moly and Corteco. The front bumper with horizontal ribs on the corner proved a tricky area but we turned that into a feature to stack sponsors.

Goodbye 2018, Hello 2019

Sadly, the website continues to take a back seat with a great range of working coming in. Most of my work is with motorsport liveries and these are showcased here.

2018 is way in the past, work wise (my last ’18 livery was created back in September), and was an epic year, my most successful to date. My first 2019 design was actually in August and if all the planets line up, I will have around 15 liveries at the Roar24 and Rolex24 combined. (4 WeatherTech, 9 Michelin Pilot,  1IMSA PC)

All of this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my family, friends and the teams, sponsors and drivers who commissioned me to design these liveries, so a huge THANK YOU!

All the liveries shown have competed (or used in public, in the case of the Vancouver Canucks liveries) during 2018. A couple (the CES BMW M6 for example) were collaborations and a few are older liveries still in use today.

Also a few sponsorship proposals which never saw the light of day and a couple which are confidential with NDA etc. There were a few helmets, race haulers, race suits, t-shirt designs and vehicle styling projects along the way was well.

Signing off 2018 with wishes for a healthy, happy, fun-packed and peaceful Happy New Year.

With different sponsors for Jeff and Fred Roberts, we chose a new unified team identity with different coloured vibrant accents.

The distinctive bulges on the top of the front fenders carry the accents and showcases the flowing form in this area.

The angled graphic gives a sense of speed and also allows large mass of white areas for the team sponsor.

On the team’s 2017 debut, Jeff finished with the fastest GTS time in opening practice at Virginia International Raceway earlier today.

New Panoz Avezzano takes to the track

I was recently comissioned by the Panoz organisation to create a classic style livery for their new Panoz Avezzano race car which will race in the Pirelli World Challenge in 2017.

We explored a number of avenues including recreating the original Panoz livery, which I designed way back in 1995, but in the end we went for a design which referenced the Red and White of later cars including the LMP1.

More recently, I had designed the 2014 DeltaWing livery for Panoz.

Corey Fergus to compete in PWC GT Cup class

2015 Pirelli World Challenge ‘TC’ Champion, Corey Fergus will move up to the GT Cup class of the Pirelli series with an updated livery on his new racecar, a Porsche 991 GT3 Cup Car. I designed the original AERO livery on his championship winning Porsche Cayman for the 2015 season from a joint commission by Corey and AERO paint films.

The livery has proved successful and recognizable in the crowded PWC grid in 2015, so the best approach was to update it to fit on the new 997.

Slightly different proportions and additional sponsor requirements resulted in an extensive rework on the side to ensure it was resolved on the longer wheelbase car. No cutting corners here.

HPA Unveil new Livery

I have recently been working with a local team, HPA Motorsport, one of the leading Volkswagen Audi Specialist in North America on the creative identity of their two car ‘TC’ class team in the 2015 Pirelli World Challenge.

With a desire to showcase their automotive parts and cutting edge SEMA winning car builds, I have created a livery which showcases the parts of their their VW Jetta GLi race-cars via a tear-away cutaway graphic.

With the team being so local, I’ve been able to measure up the car closely and take over 400 reference photos in order to draw up the livery. The design takes the form of  a partial wrap with the original Metallic Blue paintwork surrounding the cutaway with a jagged graphic based loosely on their existing corporate identity.

It has been great working with HPA on the design and I believe we have come up with a distinctive design. One of the more complicated and challenging liveries to creates, but nothing I like better.

Quote from the press release (below) : “Andy’s creativity and artistic touch has really set these cars apart. It is his attention to detail that really impressed our group” -Marcel Horn, President of HPA Motorsports. Continue Reading

Swisher Racing tease new BMW Z4 GT3 livery

Pirelli World Challenge racer, Bill Ziegler and Swisher Racing posted a preview of their new livery on Twitter this past weekend.

The Swisher Racing BMW Z4 GT3 will be prepared by Turner Motorsport and the new livery has been based off the Turner Blue and Yellow livery which I created last year. Turner Motorsport will be running two cars in the ‘PWC’ in addition to their TUDOR United SportsCar campaign.

I had also previously worked with Swisher last year, assisting with bringing their livery idea to life and incorporating it into the GMG Racing team look (another livery I designed!), the team who ran their Audi R8LMS Swisher Racing entry in 2014.

Turner Motorsport confirms return to TUDOR Chamionship

Turner Motorsport have announced they will defend their GTD Class title in 2015, returning for a full season of the TUDOR United Sports Car Championship. After a challenging debut in the series in 2014, the team bounced back to win the GTD Class Championship. Turner were the first team worldwide to win a major championship with the BMW Z4 GT3.

For 2015, Turner will compete in the TUDOR series and the Pirelli World Challenge. More news on the PWC program and liveries soon.

My Portfolio showcases the design process behind the current Turner Motorsport Livery.
