Just a bit of fun, following the recent Chinese GP. I created a Pit Crew Spotter Guide for Jenson to use at the next Grand Prix! As a past employee of McLaren, I’ll be trying to ensure he gets a copy 🙂 You can view the full image HERE

Following its Dubai 24 Hour win in January, the Team Need for Speed BMW Z4 has gone back to BMW for a full 2011 update and is now back with Schubert Motorsport ready for the FIA GT3 and Nurburgring 24hour races.

As you can see, we’ve decided to keep the reflective wireframe mesh livery, combined with the Team NFS look. I’m sure the Vinyl guys in Germany hate me!

2011 Team Aon Ford Focus

Andy’s longest serving client, Arena International under the ‘Team Aon’ brand, launched their all-new 2011 Ford Focus Touring Car with Ford at the Geneva Motor Show this week.

The all new car has been developed with assistance from Ford and features a development of Andy’s livery. Andy also assisted in a consultancy role with the Engineers at Arena on the bodykit design of the car.  The car will race in the British Touring Car Championship.

The previous generation Ford Focus BTCC car which Andy helped style, will be raced by Motorbase Performance.

Bimmerworld 2011 livery

Front running Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge Team, Bimmerworld Racing returned to the track in 2011 with a fresh new livery on their BMW E90 and E90 M3 race cars.

Bimmerworld owner, James Clay contracted Andy earlier in the month wanting a new look for the cars. The Bimmerworld graphic is distinctive with its Blue, Yellow and White branding and Bauhaus font. Andy always likes to incorporate the numbers into the design and a few concepts later, this design was born.

Bimmerworld have extended to a four car team this year, with two new M3 chassis in the GS class. The M3 has Blue hood with White and Yellow BMW Motorsports Style stripes while the regular E90 sedans in the ST class have white hoods.

The team started the season with a podium for John Capestro-DuBetsand Gregory Liefooghe finished 3rd in the Daytona 200 season opener.

Reflective livery on top of the podium in Dubai

Andy Blackmore Design - Team Schubert BMW Z4 GT3 Livery -Dubai

The 2011 Team Need for Speed livery on the Schubert Motorsport BMW Z4 GT3 made its debut with a convincing win at the Dubai 24 hours in January. The reflective livery was a photographer favourite during the event and received much praise on Need for Speed and Speedhunter’s Facebook and Twitter outlets.

The livery features a unique wireframe graphic from the in-game car from Need for Speed Shift 2- Unleashed. The wireframe in the white areas is reflective, giving a unique look.  More images and full details on Speedhunters’ Dubai coverage and on our BMW Z4 Livery Page..

Mustang RTR-X ‘Showstopper’ at SEMA 2010.

The Team Need for Speed Mustang RTR-X which Andy designed with Vaughn Gittin Jr was unveiled earlier this week on the Ford Stand at the SEMA Show. The car looks stunning in the flesh.

Twins Turbo and Steen Chassis did an amazing job bring Andy and Jr’s vision to reality. AutoGuide.com said it was “Definitive showstopper”. The launch took place immediately after the Ford press conference. There were more people waiting by the covered RTR-X than at the main conference.

You can follow the build process and the debut of the RTR-X on Speedhunters and on our own detailed RTR-X post

Team Need for Speed RX-8 voted ‘Best looking Car’

The Team Need for Speed/Red Bull Mazda RX-8, which Mad Mike Whiddett campaigned in the 2010 Formula Drift Championship won the ‘Best looking Car’ Award at the season banquet. The award was presented following voting by drivers, teams and industry figures.

Andy worked with Mike on the livery, a variation of Andy’s BMW Z4 design for Team Need for Speed to include Mike’s Red Bull sponsorship. It was quite a challenge for Andy to incorporate both brands on the car.  The look of the car is also helped by its low stance and its cool wheels which Mike and Twins Turbo designed.

GRAND-AM 2012 Design Study, in association with SPEED TV

Andy has recently been working with SPEED.com on a design study for the 2012 GRAND-AM Cars. The series has been working with teams for new ideas to improve the look of Grand-Am cars via a chassis update.

With his vehicle styling experience at McLaren, Yamaha, KWM, Arena and Electronic Arts, Andy was commissioned by SPEED.com to work on some proposals.

You can read the full article at SPEED.com and all read more about the actual designs HERE including a Corvette Version, showing how a GRAND-AM Car with more extreme styling. The designs also featured on The Speed Report on SPEED TV.

The GRAND-AM Design was well received and spread around the net quickly, creating quite a buzz on Facebook, Twitter and forums such as Ten-Tenths.com, to the official GRAND-AM and SPEED.com forums, the study has been positively received.

2010 Spotter Guides

The 24 Hours of Le Mans Spotter Guide, sponsored by Nissan Sportscars(UK)  is the latest edition to the 2010 range of Guides and is available as a free download at SpotterGuides.com.

The guide joins the very successful American Le Mans Series Official Spotters Guide which is updated prior to each race and the Formula Drift and British Touring Car Guides, which was released earlier this season.

The guides are a great marketing tool for race fans, at the circuit or at the race track. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Utah GP, Team Dynamics and Need for Speed have all commissioned special versions of the guide in the past, while premium sponsors including Nissan UK, SPEED TV, The American Le Mans Series and Radio Le mans have partnered on various guides.

The ALMS guides also appears on the official site (Race hub section) and is available as a poster and on T-shirts at ALMS races.

You can view all the Spotter Guides HERE.

Team Need for Speed Mustang RTR-X build announced

Andy has been working with Formula Drift race winner, Vaughn Gittin Jr, on this exciting new build over the past few months. The build is based off a 1969 Mustang Boss and will be built from a new Chassis, from scratch.

The car will make its debut at SEMA 2010, but you can follow the entire build process including livery voting here at Speedhunters.com.

The outline of the project was presented to Speedhunters earlier this month before a livery vote, showing a variety of designs. The Speedhunters voted in their thousands, literally and luckily our favourite design won. A Dark grey metallic base with Matt Grey elements and Sonic Green highlights. The Green is sure to be controversial, but the last thing we want to create is a bland design. This needs to stand out.

The original post on Speedhunters can be viewed here, while a summary of the build and design can be read here, on Andy Blackmore Design.

Thanks to Vaughn and Rod Chong for the opportunity to work on this unique project.

New look for Ryan Gates in Time-Attack

Andy was recently commissioned by Ryan Gates to design a new livery for his Evo X, one of the fastest Evo X’s in the world. Making over 700bhp, Ryan and his machine achieved a 100% win rate in the Redline Series in 2009.

The distinctive livery features hundreds of small Mitsubishi Diamond logos, used as a transitional device from Blue to White, angled across the car using a Matt Vinyl Wrap.

This is just a Work in progress shot as a few of the logos still need to be applied, but you can view more images on Ryan’s Flickr site.
